Yes. PRO ships without the INTERNET permission, so it cannot connect to the network at all. There is no ad SDK and no cloud sync. Your vault never leaves your device because the app has no way to transmit it.
Both use the same AES-256-GCM encryption. PRO adds in-app viewers for all file types, scan-to-PDF, folders, move/rename, starred files, restore, vault health, dark theme, text/code editing, and Panic Lock — and it removes ads and the network permission. See the free version for the baseline.
No. PRO is completely ad-free and contains no advertising SDK.
Images, video, audio, PDFs, documents, archives, and code/text can be viewed inside the vault. Files are decrypted only in memory for display. Office document viewing beyond PDF and text/code may be added in future updates.
Yes. PRO includes camera document scanning with basic crop, saved straight into the encrypted vault as a PDF. Camera permission is requested only when you use scanning.
Yes. PRO can restore the encrypted backup files created by PrivateVault (Free). Use the same backup password that was used when creating the backup.
Yes. PRO supports viewing and plain-text editing of common code formats (JavaScript, TypeScript, C, C++, Java, PHP, Python, Kotlin, Swift, HTML, CSS, JSON, XML, YAML and more), with autosave and preserve-originals so you can restore the original later.
Yes. PRO can open supported password-protected PDFs inside the vault with session isolation. Passwords are not stored.
The password is required to unlock the vault. PRO has no servers and no network, so there is no server-side recovery. Keep your password safe and maintain your own encrypted backups.
No. The real risk is an interrupted write (phone powering off, storage running out, force-closing the app, or cleaner apps modifying vault data). Authenticated encryption blocks access to incomplete or altered data as a safety feature. Keep your device charged and don't manually modify the app's internal files.
