PrivateVault PRO & PrivateVault App Description
PrivateVault PRO is a fully offline encrypted vault app for Android, and PrivateVault (Free) is the same vault supported by ads. Both help users store and manage personal files locally on their device, focusing on local privacy, file organization, and secure viewing without cloud accounts, telemetry, or online file viewers. PrivateVault PRO uses no internet access; PrivateVault (Free) uses network access only to show ads, never to handle your files.
Both apps utilize industry-standard AES-256 encryption in GCM mode (Galois/Counter Mode) to ensure that imported files cannot be read or misused without proper local authentication. Encryption keys are generated and stored securely on your device using key derivation functions like PBKDF2 or Argon2. This local-only architecture means your files are never transmitted to external servers, protecting them against cloud leaks or unauthorized network access.
Some advanced viewing, scanning, and document features depend on bundled native components such as PDFium and OpenCV.

Limitations
PrivateVault PRO & PrivateVault cannot guarantee that every file type will preview or render perfectly. Unsupported, corrupted, extremely large, unusual, encrypted, or password-protected files may fail to open, preview, or process.
Scan-related features may be imperfect and depend on image quality, lighting, document angle, and supported native components.
Screenshot protection and app obfuscation reduce risk but cannot provide absolute protection against rooted devices, compromised systems, external cameras, screen mirroring bypasses, malware, or advanced reverse engineering.
PrivateVault PRO & PrivateVault do not provide cloud recovery, server-side password reset, or developer recovery access. If a vault password is forgotten or lost, encrypted files may be permanently inaccessible.
Encryption itself does not damage files. The real risk is an interrupted or incomplete write — caused by the phone powering off, storage running out, the app being force-closed, or cleaner apps modifying vault data. PrivateVault uses authenticated encryption, which means even one altered byte will cause the app to block access to that file as a safety feature.
For technical accuracy, Android's built-in Privacy Dashboard and permissions indicators track resource access but do not determine the intent behind data transfers. While Android continues to improve security, local offline encryption remains a critical layer of protection once permissions are granted.
User Responsibility and Encrypted File Disclaimer
The developer will not be held responsible for corrupted, inaccessible, lost, deleted, or damaged encrypted files. Users are solely responsible for how they use the app and for maintaining independent backups of important data.
By using PrivateVault PRO & PrivateVault, the user accepts full responsibility for managing their files, remembering their vault password, verifying backups, and understanding the risks of encrypted local storage.
If a vault password is forgotten or lost, encrypted files may be permanently inaccessible. PrivateVault PRO & PrivateVault do not provide cloud recovery, server-side password reset, or developer recovery access.
Third-Party Native Components
PrivateVault PRO & PrivateVault may include third-party native components for supported local features, such as PDF rendering, image processing, and document-related operations. These components may include PDFium, OpenCV, and related dependencies.
Third-party components remain subject to their respective licenses. License notices and acknowledgements should be included in the app and/or website where required by the applicable licenses.
No Absolute Security Guarantee
PrivateVault PRO & PrivateVault are designed with security-focused features, but no software, device, or storage system can guarantee absolute protection in every situation. You should keep backups where appropriate, protect your device, and use strong authentication.
Lawful Use Only
You agree not to use the app for illegal, harmful, abusive, infringing, or unauthorized purposes. You are responsible for the files you import, store, export, or share.
No Liability for Mishandling
The developer of PrivateVault PRO & PrivateVault will not be held responsible for any loss, damage, data loss, accidental deletion, unauthorized disclosure, device failure, forgotten password, corrupted files, misuse, or other issue arising from mishandling, improper use, unsafe storage practices, or user-controlled export/share actions.
