๐Ÿ”ฅ 1. Overview & Privacy Philosophy

Habits Assistant is developed and published by Privatepappain, an independent Android app developer dedicated to privacy-conscious, utility-first mobile experiences. Habits Assistant is designed to help you organize daily routines, track completion streaks, write date-specific notes, and maintain positive habits.

We believe that your personal growth and habit records belong to you alone. This privacy policy clearly and transparently explains:

  • Why your habit tracking records and daily notes stay strictly on your local device.
  • Exactly which Google Account details are processed when you choose to sign in, and why they are used solely for account authentication and optional cloud backup.
  • Precisely what data Google AdMob collects to serve ads, and how that advertising telemetry is kept strictly separate from your personal habits.
  • How you maintain 100% control over your data, permissions, and privacy choices.

Key Principle: Privatepappain does not operate tracking servers or sell user data. Your habit records, notes, and personal routines are never sold, rented, or shared with third-party data brokers or marketing aggregators.

๐Ÿ“ฑ 2. On-Device Habit Data & Daily Notes (Offline-First)

At its core, Habits Assistant is architected as an offline-first application. All your habit information is saved directly in an encrypted/sandboxed SQLite database on your device (using Android's Room persistence library).

This on-device information includes:

  • Habit Details: Habit titles, descriptions, color themes, icon indicators, and target frequencies (e.g., daily, specific days of the week).
  • Completion Histories: Check-in dates, historical logs, completion timestamps, and calculated streak counters.
  • Daily Date Notes: Notes up to 200 characters associated with specific calendar dates (accessible via single-tap on any calendar date).
  • Reminder Settings: User-configured daily alarm times and reminder notification preferences.

Device Isolation: This personal habit data is never transmitted to any Privatepappain server. It resides inside Android's secure application sandbox and cannot be accessed by other installed apps.

๐Ÿ”‘ 3. Google Account Login & Authentication Data

Habits Assistant offers an optional Sign in with Google feature powered by Google's modern Android Credential Manager API (OAuth 2.0 Client ID: 308567815578-ft0ociv79ul48ct8qbj4m5vf7t7vljq9.apps.googleusercontent.com). Signing in is entirely optional; all habit-tracking features work without an account.

When you choose to sign in with Google, Google provides verified profile credentials through official Google Play Services sheets. We collect and process only the minimal data necessary to enable your login session:

Google Account Data Field How It Is Processed Specific Purpose Shared With 3rd Parties?
Email Address Received from Google Credential Manager token; stored locally in secure app preferences. Acts as your unique account identifier to isolate your cloud backups and restore them if you switch devices. Never Shared
Display Name Received from your Google profile; saved in local app preferences. Displayed in the user account dialog to personalize your greeting (e.g., "Welcome back, John"). Never Shared
Profile Picture URL Google-hosted avatar link; rendered dynamically inside the app's top app bar. Visual account indicator inside the app's header. The raw image is fetched directly from Google's CDN. Never Shared
Google User ID & ID Token Cryptographic JSON Web Token (JWT) issued by Google. Authenticates that you are the legitimate owner of the Google Account without the app ever seeing or storing your Google password. Never Shared

How Cloud Backups Work When Signed In:

When you are signed in and have cloud backup enabled, Habits Assistant creates an encrypted snapshot of your habit configurations, streaks, and date notes. This backup is mapped strictly to your sanitized Google User ID so that only your authenticated account can retrieve and restore your habits.

Strict Privacy Guarantees for Google Account Data:

  • No Sensitive Scopes: Habits Assistant does NOT request access to your Gmail messages, Google Drive files, Google Contacts, Google Calendar, or YouTube data. We only request basic Sign-in profile and email scopes.
  • No Cross-App Tracking: Your Google identity is never linked to advertising profiles or shared with advertising networks.
  • No Passwords Handled: Authentication is handled by Google's native system dialogs; Habits Assistant never has access to your password.
  • Easy Disconnect: You can sign out at any time from the in-app account dialog, or revoke the app's permissions at any time from your Google Account Security Dashboard (myaccount.google.com/permissions).

๐Ÿ“ข 4. Advertising Data (Google AdMob Only)

Habits Assistant is free to download and use. Development and maintenance are supported by in-app banner and interstitial advertisements served by Google AdMob (a service provided by Google LLC).

To deliver ads, prevent fraudulent clicks, enforce frequency capping, and comply with legal requirements, the Google Mobile Ads SDK collects certain technical telemetry. This data is collected for advertising and security purposes only:

Ad Data Collected Collected By Exact Advertising Purpose User Control
Mobile Advertising Identifier (GAID / AAID) Google AdMob SDK Enables ad serving, frequency capping (preventing the same ad from showing repeatedly), and ad attribution. You can reset or completely delete your Advertising ID in Android Settings → Google → Ads.
IP Address & Approximate Location Google AdMob SDK Coarse, non-precise geographic region (city or country level) inferred from IP for localized ad compliance and invalid click fraud detection. Habits Assistant never requests or accesses precise GPS location permissions.
Device & Hardware Telemetry Google AdMob SDK Device manufacturer, model, OS version, screen resolution, mobile carrier, and active network connection type. Used to format banner ads correctly for your screen dimensions and adjust quality for network speed.
Ad Interactions & Diagnostics Google AdMob SDK Ad impressions, user click events, ad load latencies, and crash logs related to ad rendering. Used to detect automated bots, prevent fraudulent ad clicks, and verify billing with ad sponsors.

Separation of Advertising and Personal Habit Data: Google AdMob operates independently of your habit tracking records. AdMob cannot read your habit names, streaks, calendar completions, date notes, or personal routines. Your personal data is never shared with advertisers.

GDPR / European Economic Area (EEA), UK, and Swiss Consent:

Habits Assistant integrates Google's official User Messaging Platform (UMP) SDK. Users in regions governed by GDPR, UK GDPR, or Swiss privacy laws are presented with an interactive consent dialog prior to any ad delivery. You can choose between personalized ads or non-personalized ads, and you can change your privacy choices at any time from within the app settings.

โš™๏ธ 5. Android System Permissions & Purpose

Habits Assistant adheres to Android's principle of least privilege. We request only the minimal permissions necessary for core app features:

Permission Name Android Level Exact Technical Function
android.permission.INTERNET Normal Required to communicate with Google servers for Sign in with Google, cloud backup sync, and loading AdMob ads.
android.permission.ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE Normal Allows the app to check whether an active Wi-Fi or mobile data connection exists before attempting network operations.
android.permission.POST_NOTIFICATIONS Runtime (Android 13+) Requested only if you choose to enable daily habit reminder alarms. If denied, reminders are silenced but habit tracking continues to work normally.
android.permission.RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED Normal Allows the app's broadcast receiver to reschedule your configured local alarms after your phone is restarted (since Android clears pending alarms on reboot).
android.permission.VIBRATE Normal Provides subtle tactile haptic feedback when you hold or long-press a calendar date to mark a habit as completed.

Permissions We Explicitly DO NOT Request:

Habits Assistant does not request or access:

  • No Camera or Microphone access.
  • No Precise (GPS) or Background Location permissions.
  • No Contacts, Call Logs, or SMS permissions.
  • No broad External Storage or media read/write permissions.

๐Ÿ”— 6. Third-Party Services & Data Processors

The only third-party services integrated into Habits Assistant are provided by Google LLC:

We do not integrate third-party analytics trackers (such as Facebook SDK, adjust, AppsFlyer) or background data harvesting software.

๐Ÿ—‘๏ธ 7. Data Retention & User Deletion Rights

You have complete ownership over your data at all times:

  • Local Data Deletion: You can delete any individual habit, check-in, or date note directly within the app. Clearing app storage in Android Settings → Apps → Habits Assistant → Storage → Clear Data or uninstalling the app permanently deletes all locally stored habits and notes from your device.
  • Google Account Logout: Tapping your profile avatar and selecting "Sign Out" removes all cached profile tokens and account identifiers from your device immediately.
  • Cloud Backup Deletion: If you have cloud backup enabled and wish to permanently erase your backup snapshot, you can toggle sync off, delete your habits in-app, or send an email request to [email protected]. All backup records associated with your account will be promptly and permanently deleted.

๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ 8. Security Safeguards

We implement rigorous industry-standard security safeguards to protect your information:

  • Transport Layer Security (TLS 1.3): All network communications with Google authentication and ad servers are strictly encrypted in transit using HTTPS and modern TLS protocols.
  • Application Sandboxing: Android's Linux kernel-level sandbox isolates Habits Assistant's internal database and preferences, preventing unauthorized access by other apps.
  • No Password Storage: Sign in with Google utilizes cryptographic tokens; your Google Account password is never accessed, handled, or stored by our app.
  • Safe Credential Storage: Account tokens and preferences are stored using Android's private MODE_PRIVATE storage.

๐Ÿ‘ถ 9. Children's Privacy

Habits Assistant is a general audience productivity tool and is not directed towards children under the age of 13 (or under the applicable age of digital consent in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal identifiable information from children.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe that your child has provided personal information to us without appropriate consent, please contact us at [email protected], and we will promptly delete such information.
